It’s funny what I remember ….I grew up in Queens NY. My family owned a six family apartment building.
October 15 was the day that the heat was turned on.
October smells like heat….steam heat from a radiator kind of heat…
The radiators needed to be bled; this dark water would spew out
It wasn’t a bad smell
It smelled warm

The radiators looked just like the one in the picture; there was one just like that in my parents’ bedroom, by a window too.
I could sit on it for hours looking out the window, and daydreaming …
My tushy would get warm, but I was imagining what was outside that window….ahhh
