James
See that little boy …well he is my son. This picture was the first time I saw him. This was one of many pictures from the adoption agency.
What followed afterward was a 3-week visit with us … he was a couple of years older when we first met him and his sister, but he was a charmer and great kid.
Three and half years ago it was official, the adoption went through, he became our son, and his sister became our daughter….
We arrived home as a family in the spring and I became a mom to a boy and girl that did not speak a word of English …how we communicated, I have no idea; it’s a blur. Yet somehow, all our points, concerns, and feelings were understood.
He is now in the middle school…and is a fine little man. We thought he was going to struggle in the 6th grade. He took on so many responsibilities, joined the boy scouts, and lighting crew for the school play.
Carving pumpkins the second year.
Testing out of E.S.L (after two years)
Dad giving him tissues as a gift for his birthday!
With me (so proud of him)
Moving up day, (graduation day)
Skipping stones
A day at the beach!
James and dad!
I am mentioning all of this because what this boy has done in 3 ½ years, I am not sure if my husband or I could have done.
He learned a new language
Made friends
Learned how to socialize
Learned how to study
He is our son and we are so proud of all his accomplishments, we know this is all so new to him having parents and guiding him to do well.
A couple of weeks ago I decided that the electronic games were not allowed during school nights. As I said he took on a lot, lighting crew, boy scouts, and all his homework and studying he had to do. He listened but at some point, he asked me to reconsider and said, I’m getting good grades and listening to you and dad. Please let me play after dinner!
Both my husband and I agreed and said he can play for 1 hour every night. But if we see that his schoolwork or his grades start to slip we will stop it.
So 3 ½ years here with us and our son is on
The Honor Roll
Awesome job James!
