100 Equals Be Proud

Today I posted my 100 post on Mangia, Mangia… No Talk!
I am featuring all the wonderful faces that visited my home, and my family who endured all the; “Wait I have to take a picture for Mangia, Mangia!” yet ultimately feasting on a meal.

I started Mangia, Mangia…No Talk to create a positive food environment for my children. I cook meals that I remember eating as a child, sharing the same meals with my immediate family and my extended family. Not only do I bring to the table a heaping serving of goodness, I also share stories of my childhood spent with my sisters and cousins.
My children love what I cook for them but also love the stories too…
Like how I was two years old and ate my first mussel, my mom was in the hospital giving birth to my sister, how upset she was that my uncles and grandparents let me eat mussels at two years old.  To this day, I love mussels – Yummy!
The kids always ask me pancakes, or French toast mom.  I tell them that when I was little no more than 5 years old we went upstate and stayed at a hotel.  For breakfast my parents ordered me French toast, I was smitten the first time I saw it on a plate….they were arranged cut in half and these triangles of white bread lined up, dressed with powdered sugar on top– the love never died and to this day one of my favorite breakfasts.
These are the stories I tell my son and daughter, to hopefully, wash away their hunger pains that they endured for many years before we adopted them.
